HHS Team Wins National High School Ethics Bowl

Hickman High School has won the 11th Annual National High School Ethics Bowl (NHSEB).

The National High School Ethics Bowl, inspires and challenges high school students across the country to develop their ethical reasoning skills and engage in productive dialogue about complex ethical issues.

After winning the state championship in February, the Hickman team traveled to the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill to compete in the national competition.

The event, hosted by the UNC Parr Center for Ethics, brought together 24 schools from all across the United States. More than 4,000 students from nearly 400 schools across the country in (44) Regional and (4) Divisional Competitions competed for a coveted seat at NHSEB’s National Championship.

  • Clementine Buehler (junior)
  • Surya Raghu (junior)
  • Carly Christiansen (sophomore)
  • Lorelei Hardin (sophomore)
  • Bailey Moore (sophomore)
  • Atticus Radcliffe (sophomore)

Coaches Caysea Dachroeden and Lou Kraxberger guided the team through four preliminary rounds, with a record of 3-1, to make it to the single elimination quarterfinals on Sunday. 

After three very close rounds, Hickman High School was announced as the National Champion.
